This is a necessary procedure when the pulp inside your tooth gets infected or is affected by decay.

How does root canal treatment work?

When the pulp gets infected, root canal treatment lets us save the tooth by removing the pulp and preventing the spread of the infection. Saving the tooth keeps the teeth beside it from shifting position and possibly causing jaw problems later. The pulp is removed by drilling a small hole in the tooth being treated to access the area inside the tooth. Then we remove the pulp and disinfect the inside of the tooth to prevent the infection from returning. After that, we close the hole and place a dental crown over the tooth to restore and protect it.

Aren’t root canals painful?

In most cases, root canal treatment is no more painful than having a tooth filled. The area may be sensitive for a few days following treatment. Any pain can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication.

An infected tooth can sometimes be felt as a severe toothache. If you’re experiencing pain in one of your teeth call us to make an appointment.

Sun, 22 Sep 2019 18:01:09 +0000 admin 34 at https://www.yorkdentalclinic.com Orthodontics and Invisalign in Fredericton https://www.yorkdentalclinic.com/services/orthodontics-and-invisalign-fredericton Orthodontics and Invisalign in Fredericton admin Sun, 09/22/2019 - 14:51

Orthodontics is the field of dentistry that involves the treatment of dental irregularities such as misaligned teeth or malocclusion (under or overbite). The treatment uses clear plastic aligners to reposition and realign your teeth in a similar way to braces. Invisalign aligners are virtually unnoticeable while you’re wearing them, and you can remove them to brush your teeth or while you’re eating. Invisalign treatment takes approximately the same length of time as braces, usually two years depending on your situation.

Get a straighter smile today. It sedates you to the point where you are totally relaxed, free from pain, and not aware of your surroundings. Most patients who have oral sedation have very little memory of their treatment.

Please note that oral sedation will leave you too impaired to drive home, so you should arrange transportation home from your appointment.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide gas is a traditional dental sedative that provides a mild, short lasting sedative effect.
